Nokia and Intel joins hands with each others to work on a new operating system for mobiles namely MeeGo - a new Linux based platform. Basically this a merger of Nokia’s Maemo OS which recently appeared in the N900 smartphone and Intel’s Moblin OS intended for netbooks. The new OS MeeGo is intended for smartphones, tablets, netbooks, in-vehicle technology and for digital smart televisions. It is expected to be launched in the 2nd quater of 2010. With the increaseing popularity of mobile devices all the big hands Google, Microsoft, Apple, Nokia, Intel etc are jumping into OS. Intrestingly most of these i.e Google Chrome, Apple’s IPad etc will be based on Linux/Unix
