Just last week we saw the teaser trailer for Ridley Scott’s action epic, Robin Hood and now a longer international cut has been released. The film stars Australian actors Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett as the famous Robin Hood and Maid Marian. The film falls in line with Scott’s previous period piece, Gladiator and shows more similarities than just Crowe as the main character.
In Robin Hood, the Earl of Huntington (Crowe) has returned to his North English village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servants discover the oppression caused by Nottingham’s new Sheriff (Matthew Macfadyen). Robin along with his band of Merry Men use their intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption by taking back what is rightfully his. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Maid Marian (Blanchett), while attempting to lead a successful revolt.
In the latest trailer for the film, there’s a narration that tells us more about the film’s story. Robin is outlawed and cited as an enemy of the state, because of his multiple attempts to cause an uprising. The best thing about this footage is Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian. Her character is similar to Gwenevere in 2004’s King Arthur, because she’s a warrior instead of just a pretty face. She’s more than a love interest and it’s always good to see those kind of female characters in war films.
