Nazims continue working till amendment in LB system: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Local Government Abdul Razzaq Thahim said nazims would continue function till amendment in Local Bodies (LB) system. Talking to Geo News, federal minister said it is a wrong impression that tenure of nazims and local bodies system is going to end today. He said the fact is that tenure of nazims has been completed on October 16, 2009 and they are working in interim period and will continue working till the appointment of new nazims. He said approval of president was mandatory for the amendments in ordinance and provinces will get the authority of amendments from January 1. However, administrators will not be appointed till the amendments. Replying to a question, Thahim said local government ordinance would not going to finish and local bodies system will continue working.
