Kareena-Shahid love story to release on Feb 14

Producer Boney Kapoor comes up with a plan to release his long time pending film Milenge Milenge starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor on Valentine’s Day next year.

According to a source, “Boney, his director Satish Kaushik and other top executives clearly feel that no date is more suited to this film than Valentine’s Day. Even some distributors are in agreement.”

The trade sources think that Valentine’s Day is the best time to release the film, as youngsters will look for a love story on the day. The traders also believe that Jab We Met was successful because Shahid and Kareena split before the actual release of the film. “There is more magic to a screen couple that is not romantically involved in real life,” adds the source. So they are expecting the same benefit for Milenge Milenge. “So Milenge Milenge stands a good chance.”

Boney confirmed the news of releasing it in February but said that it has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. “However, I’m not involved in all these release strategies that people are talking about. I have a team working on the release pattern. If it coincides with Valentine’s Day, then so be it,” said Boney.

He also hopes that Kareena and Shahid will act professionally and will do whatever is expected from them for the film.

Injured Pooja promises to stand tall at Miss World 2009 tonight

The finale of Miss World 2009 is about to start in Johannesburg tonight, while Indian contestant Pooja Chopra is under a spell of misfortune with sprained ankle on the eve of final event. Now she has a cast up to her knee, which means when other 112 contestants will be walking smoothly and effortlessly on the stage, Pooja will be conscious with each step with the cast. However, except the physical difficulty nothing can hold her back, as she is high on spirits and excited to represent her nation.

“I wonder what destiny holds for me,” questions Pooja. Hopes of millions of Indians rest up on her and today she not only needs luck but people’s prayers too. “Is the crown going to be mine? I only thought of myself as a winner all the while. Now I need the people’s prayers to help me overcome this trauma,” she adds from Johannesburg.

After the accident, Pooja was wondering to know why God had brought her so far… to go through such a pain just before her final presentation. “But then, I feel I must stand tall,” she motivates herself.

Meanwhile, Julia Morley the organiser of the event, being kind to Pooja told her not to participate in dance round but walk few steps on stage. The girl is determined to do so says, “I know there’s tremendous compassion for me as the pageant itself stands for that value. But I am also aware that this is a beauty contest and my looks are going to be judged apart from my brains.”

Pooja’s mother Neera Chopra is accompanying her at the event and she prays, “I hope my daughter’s dream to win the crown is realised.”

Meanwhile, the high on spirit and determined Pooja says, “Today, I shall stand tall for my country and no one can hold me back.”

CIA terminates contract with Blackwater: report

WASHINGTON: The US Central Intelligence Agency has cancelled a contract with a security company formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide that allowed the company to load bombs on CIA drones in Pakistan and Afghanistan, The New York Times reported late Friday.

Citing intelligence officials, the newspaper said the contract gave Blackwater employees an operational role in one of the CIA’s most significant covert programs, which has killed dozens of militants with Predator and Reaper drones.

The contract with the company, now called Xe Services, was canceled this year by CIA Director Leon Panetta, the report said.

CIA spokesman George Little said Panetta had ordered that the agency’s employees take over the jobs from Xe employees at the remote drone bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the paper noted.

Panetta had also ordered a review of all contracts with the company, according to the report.

Though Dafoe's current turn in Antichrist, is even more radically bad, indeed.

Michael Shannon is the bad Brad in question in My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done, an increasingly disturbed young San Diego man with the doomed misfortune, at least in movies these days, of being raised by a single mom (Grace Zabriskie), after his father passed away years ago. Unconsoled in the least by a financially pampered existence, Brad takes off for Peru for a little spiritual meditation and white water rafting, after which he is rumored to return as 'strange' ever since.

While performing later on in an amateur production of a Greek play in which his character is prompted to impale his mother with a sword, Brad decides to take his performance off stage and slice up his real life, overly doting bordering on suffocating mom, while engaged to be married to the theatrical maternal version, Ingrid (Chloë Sevigny). And as Dafoe's Detective Havenhurst pursues the suspect where he's holed up in his house with possible hostages, the film shifts back in time to detail Brad's mental deterioration, when he began to hear God on his boombox and worship oatmeal boxes. Likewise suspect is Mom's repugnant jello, which may have been the last straw triggering Brad's irreversible descent into madness. In any case, the lunatic's proclaimed mantra, without reference to any white whale though flamingos may be implicated, is Call Me Farouk.

And as a patient SWAT team mulls various scenarios to coax the perp out of his house, Ingrid and the concerned drama coach (Udo Kier) engage in perpetual hand wringing, while searching for pre-existing clues that Brad may have been losing his mind. In any case, there is far too much collective pursuit and fretting over a rather unappealing and insignificant central character, stretching across borders both to the north and south of San Diego, and involving Canadian escalators and a collection of prescription glasses in Tijuana. And perhaps a German filmmaker nearly as disoriented a stranger in a strange land, as his designated protagonist.

KANADA MOVIE REVIEW:
hough Rajiv had to utilise the film as a launch pad, it is Gayatri who took the cake with good footage all through the film. The story of the film had the scent of ‘Gangotri and Chanti’ films.

However, the director changed the track in the second half and got a grip over the film. The old-fashioned screenplay and slow pace of direction sans masala or action scenes killed the patience of audiences.

Raju (Rajiv) turns an orphan with the death of his mother (Surekhavani). The village elder and his wife take him away and bring him up along with their daughter Nandini (Gayatri). Both remain good friends right from their childhood. Nandini falls in love with Raju and reveals it to Raju. But he politely refuses her.

Nandini teases Raju in many ways but he silently escapes every time. Nandini’s father looks for an alliance for Nandini. Even as Nandini reveals to her father that she is in love with someone, he did not accept it. Nandini goes to Raju’s hut and gives her notebook, in which she writes down her opinion on him and asks him to write his opinion on her before the sunrise next day as Nandini’s father fixes her engagement with some boy the next day.
